How to calculate the ecological footprint
The ecological footprint is the area of the sea and the land needed to regenerate the consumed resources and to absorb the wastes produced. It relates the amount of every good consumed (food, metal, etc) with an output expressed in kg/ha (kilogram/hectare). The result is a hyphotetical surface of sustainability.
How to calculate the carbonic footprint
The carbonic footprint is an energetic parameter based on the CO2 emission directly calculated (kg) or expressed as the wood surface needed in order to absorb it.

How heavy is the CO2 emission?
Italy is ranked 52 in the world, with 7,5 ton CO2equiv./year
The management of buildings (poorly isulated) consumes a lot, while building new ones consumes less.
